Retention Specialist
Job Summary:
To serve as an ACSF staff advisor to scholarship recipients, assisting in their overall persistence and retention. Participate in the coordination of the scholarship selection, training and administrative processes.
Essential Duties
Coaching & Advising:
- Coach and advise student scholars on academic, personal and career related topics to ensure retention with colleges/universities
- Maintain regular in person, phone and email communication with student scholars
- Serve as ACSF liaison to college/university mentors.
Recruitment:
Implement recruitment processes including scholarship presentations, application tracking, interviews, selection, etc.
Training & Development:
- Work with the ACSF staff in the planning and coordination of annual training and social events including the New Scholars’ Orientation & Reception and the Leadership Symposium.
- Administrative/Clerical:
- Track student scholar progress through on-line database management;
- Manage document collection and maintain student scholar files;
- Draft on-going written communication to student scholars and applicants;
- Fulfill other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Education.
Requirements:
- University degree (BS or BA);
- (Areas of concentration desired: Education, Counseling, Social Work, Non-Profit Management);
- Three-five years related experience;
- Experience with/understanding of low-income/minority college-bound youth;
- Experience with/understanding of college/university resources and scholarship programs;
- Effective verbal and written communication skills;
- Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook;
- Desired qualification – bilingual in English and Spanish
- Ability to travel in the Phoenix Metro area
